What does the promoted behavioral change consist of?
This means that it is necessary to analyze in detail the implementation of these measures, in order to verify the achievement of the overall decrease in environmental impacts, in addition to the reduction of the waste produced.
What are the main features of the tools designed/implemented to promote behavioral change and how have they been tested?
- Use of tap water or water from public fountains
- Bulk distribution of detergents
- Bulk distribution of pasta, rice and cereals
- Distribution of fruit and vegetables through purchasing groups
- Use of rechargeable batteries instead of disposable ones
- Use of reusable industrial packaging instead of disposable
- Water consumption through returnable glass bottles, instead of disposable glass
The two supply solutions for the same service were modeled, the “traditional” one (eg sale of packaged rice) and the “alternative” one (eg sale of bulk rice), to analyze the actual improvement in sustainability and identify any critical elements.
What results have been achieved? What are the potentials and obstacles?
Improperly implementing a preventive action risks to increase the impact on the environment.
Life Cycle Thinking is the most suitable approach for this kind of assessments.
